No commentsThis week’s Economist cartoon

The Economist goes to press every week on a Wednesday. Which means for 33 years I have been at my drawing board trying to conjure up cartoons for the upcoming edition for the magazine. Fortunately for me, US General Election are always held on Tuesdays which means by Wednesday the results are in(except for that crazy 2000 election).
The US Election results are closely watched around the world and thus make great fodder for cartoons. Above is this week’s rendition. I think the conflict between these two protagonists will likely supply ample material for cartoonists and satirists in the months ahead.

Here’s this weeks cartoon for The Economist. I wounder if this will be the last cartoon that I draw of the nutty/dangerous leader of North Korea.
Economist Cartoon

Here’s this week’s cartoon from The Economist. I had terrific fun drawing this one… I hope to resurrect this unlikely Party animal again in the future.

I have been rather remiss in keeping my blog up to date… so I enclose a couple of recent cartoons that I hope you enjoy.

The Tea Party illustrated

Here’s a recent cover I create for The Economist. We intended to capture the spirit of the great English artist John Tenniel who was the genius behind the 19th century Alice in Wonderland drawings. This was a take-off of his Mad Hatters Tea party illustration (see below)
This week’s Economist offering

Here’s this week’s cartoon for The Economist. I enjoyed playing with the caricatures, though my Karzai still needs work.

Tricky drawing a cartoon in advance of a monumental election… for a weekly publication… that will not be overtaken by events when the election results are in… So, here is my best effort for The Economist this week.

Here’s the most recent editorial cartoon for The Economist… very much like an animated cartoon. On the subject of The Economist, check out this year’s April Fool’s post on their website.
